We have to promote the request of ethic behaviour on software developers by customers, so that the effort to introduce ethics in the products will result in sales improvement.

By 2020 ICT products and servicers will respect ethical and societal principles build up on European values and human rights as mandatory requirement. Imagine a car with design principles in 1970 and in 2017 in terms of noise, CO2, security and fuel consumption. Respective principles related to ethics and societal acceptance will be casted in legal norms and products and services have to respect them by law. This will also develop to a selling point anda boost for the respective European ICT industry.

One should think broader than one or two criteria. Voluntary rules for industry and government should include for products and services to be:
- legally compliant (incl GDPR of course)
- Beneficial
- Fair, respectful and just
- Transparent in effects, inclusive and autonomy preserving
- Accountable and auditable processes and giving redress
- respect subsidiarity and self-organisation.
I am sure accepting these principles would be an enormous step forward.
